Microsoft Dynamics NAV™
News
New Naming -
Microsoft Dynamics NAV™
2009
Microsoft Dynamics
recently made the decision to align their versioning approach to that of
other major product lines at Microsoft. At Convergence Copenhagen 2008,
Microsoft announced they plan to use versioning to help position
Microsoft Dynamics as part of the broader Microsoft product stack and
deliver on their “works like and with familiar Microsoft software”
story.
Microsoft Dynamics
will be using a version year approach (2008, 2009, etc.) instead of
ordinals (5.0, 6.0, etc.) for all future Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM
releases.
Both Microsoft
Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics AX have important major releases in
the next twelve months with Microsoft Dynamics AX “5” scheduled to RTM
in Q2 2008 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV “6” in Q4 2008. Both products are
scheduled to be Generally Available (GA) in FY09. The GA dates for these
products are still on-track for dates the Microsoft Dynamics team has
communicated to partners and customers, but since the products release
later in calendar year 2008, they’ll “version ahead” and use 2009 as the
version for both product releases -
Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV 2009
and Microsoft Dynamics™ AX 2009.
